Texas Instruments TPL5x00 Nano Power Programmable Timers

Texas Instruments TPL5000 Nano Power Programmable Timer with Watchdog Functionality and TPL5100 Nano Power Programmable Timer with Power Gating Functionality are long-term timer ICs optimized for low power applications. These TI devices can replace a microcontroller’s internal timer, allowing the microcontroller to stay in low power sleep mode instead of running a timer, providing a total power consumption reduction of 60 to 80%. TPL5000 is designed for use in interrupt-driven applications and provides selectable timing from 1 second to 64 seconds. Some Standards (i.e. EN50271) require the implementation of a watchdog function for safety. TPL5000 realizes this watchdog function without consuming additional power. TPL5100 is designed for use in power cycled applications and provides selectable timing from 16 seconds to 1024 seconds. TPL5000 and TPL5100 can also monitor a battery management IC via a power-good digital input.
